A message from the Web Servant
I’d like to start by expressing heartfelt gratitude to everyone that has been, is and will be involved in the creation and maintenance of this website. When I was newly sober, it was one of the first resources I used to find local meetings and information on A.A., and like the greater view of my experience, I know I am not alone in this. For many people, this site is the first point of contact for our local body. So, for me, it is a great honor and privilege to be its current caretaker and why I feel it necessary to acknowledge and express thanks to those both previous and forthcoming.
My hope is that the new version of this site makes information simple to find (especially one’s next meeting) and easy for future trusted servants to maintain. I believe at the very least, that we’ve made some good progress and are of course, open to suggestions.
New Features
The primary enhancements to the site are that it is built entirely on the WordPress platform and is mobile-friendly.
Why WordPress? You could have used…
We chose WordPress primarily because of its easy integration with the popular Twelve Step Meeting List (which ties directly to the Meeting Guide app). This site was already been making use of this aspect, so it only seemed natural.
The other reason was its popularity. WordPress now powers 35 percent of the web, and it is not uncommon to find people with experience using it. We felt that it was an important factor to build the site with this in mind, especially in the context of the spirit of rotation.
Mobile-what?
Mobile-friendly simply means you can easily view and navigate the site on your phone (just please refrain from doing this while driving 😉).
In closing…
We hope you enjoy the new site! If you have any suggestions or just want to say hello, feel free to drop us a line.
By the way, you can contact any of the service entities (General Service, Bridging the Gap, etc) by using the dropdown on the Contact Us page. Enjoy!
